Colic
I know first hand how helpless one can feel when their child has colic. When babies are born, their spleen and stomach are very tender and sensitive. Sensitive even to foods the mother eats when the child is breastfeeding.
We recommend that mothers stay away from foods that are gas producing such as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, tomatoes, citrus fruits, garlic, onions, chocolate, and coffee. Merck Manual adds to this legumes (beans), rhubarb, peaches, and melons.
To help parents and babies we treat based on the pattern of colic the child is exhibiting. It is not a one size fits all approach. By looking at their various symptoms and cause of the colic, we can pinpoint the very best way to help your child in the most efficient manner possible.
Additionally, we help parents help their children through teaching them tuina— an ancient form a child massage— as a preventative measure when discomfort arises.
